| My Gillette adjustable razor that I've had for 25 years finally wore out. You can no longer by these at the grocery or drug store and the ones I've seen on ebay are very expensive. Looking on Amazon I came across a bunch of double edge razors. The Parker 96R resembled the old Gillete and the price was reasonable. When I recieved it I was very pleased with the weight and quality of the razor. Being a wet shavor since I started shaving it only took one shave with the Parker to get used to it, been shaving everyday and I am very happy with it. Another reason I like the older double edge razors is the price of blades. Although I haven't had a chance to use the blades the razor came with I have been buying them at Walmart for $1.67 for 10. The newer fancy razors (that look like spaceships) are half the price of the Parker but the blade refills are very expensive thus the extra cost of the parker is justified by the price of the blades. Overall I'm very happy with this product. |

The Parker 96R is an excellent razor, the weight of the razor is just perfect for shaving so you don't need to press hard to get a close shave ...just use the weight of the razor. The knurled handle is very comfortable to hold and keeps the razor from slipping in your hands. This razor is very well built. I recently switched from using the Mach 3 razor to the safety razor due the outrageous cost of the Mach 3 blades.
I was very surprised how easy it is to shave with a safety razor, I had expected several nicks and cuts the first time and was very pleased to find the shaving experience with a safety razor to be far easier and more smooth than with a Mach 3 blade. The razor seems to find the correct angle against your skin almost naturally to provide the proper shaving angle.
My face is very thin and I typically have irritation around my neck when shaving with any other type of razor including electric razors when shaving around the Adam's Apple due to the different angles, with this razor it is very easy to shave around the contours of your face a neck and have a clean shave with no irritation due the extreme sharpness of the blades.
The Shark blades that came with the razor seem to be of a very excellent quality as well, and have remained sharp even when shaving through a couple of days growth of beard, I will be purchasing these blades in the future when needed.
My overal experience with a Double Edge Safety Razor has been a very pleasing experience and I would recommend this razor to anyone that is looking for a smooth clean shave at a very reasonable price. Just remember...shave slow with short strokes the first time to avoid any problems until you get the hang of using these types of razors, after your third time you will enjoy the experience greatly. |

| This is a well made razor that comes with some real sharp razor blades. This is not a fusion or Atra or any other kind of throw away safety razor. This thing is a no BS shave tool. You get a real close shave but make sure you have a styptic pencil handy because if you are too quick on the stroke, it will bite your face big time. You'll need some good after shave lotion also because the shave is so close I think it takes a layer of skin with it. Go slow and you'll get the best shave you've had in a long time, almost as good as a barber's straight razor. |
